You do not need to be represented by a lawyer at any stage of the Tribunal's proceedings. However, due to the complexity of a particular case, you may prefer to be represented by either a lawyer or an agent. If you do choose to be represented by a lawyer or an agent, this person must write to the Tribunal to confirm that they are representing you.
The Tribunal cannot represent you or any other person, provide legal advice, or assist you in hiring a lawyer or an agent. Sections of this website and our Guide for self-represented parties will help you understand what is involved in the process and what you will be expected to do if you decide to represent yourself.
This guidebook assists self-represented parties in preparing for Tribunal hearings. You can consult this document in PDF format or in a printable HTML version.
Note: to read the PDF document you will need to download Adobe Reader version 7.0 (free) to your system. If the accessibility of PDF is a concern, you can learn how to configure Adobe Reader 7.0 to work with your assistive technology using the information Read PDF Content provided by Adobe.
