What is an artists' association?

Section 5 of the Status of the Artist Act defines an "artists' association" as

"any organization, or a branch or local thereof, that has among its objectives the management or promotion of the professional and socio-economic interests of artists who are members of the organization, and includes a federation of artists' associations."

  • You will find in the Certification Register a list of artists' associations that have been certified by the Tribunal.

Recognition and certification by the Tribunal of an artists' association, which gives it the exclusive right to represent self-employed artists in a specific sector with respect to collective bargaining with producers, are conditional on the adoption by the artists' association of by-laws.
